Manavgat River
Manavgat River

There are so many natural wonders in the region of Antalya that must not go unseen. The Manavgat River is one of the only rivers in the world that is supplied from a single source. It rises in the Taurus Mountains and flows south over conglomerated strata for about 90 kilometres. This river is one of the longest undergrounds and also one of the few rivers in the world that is supplied by a single source. There are 2 dams, The Oymapinar and the Manavgat, also on the river. The water is a beautiful turquoise colour because it is so rich in minerals. The fauna along the river is varied, home to trout, carp, mullet, sea bass, geese, sweet-water turtles, moorhen to name a few. As for activities, there are plenty of fun activities to take part in. From caving, swimming, canoeing and white water rafting. The riverbanks are lined with beautiful foliage, including willow trees providing shade and a lovely escape from the summer heat.

While visiting the river you will very likely come across the spectacular Manavgat Waterfall, but there are also other natural beauties here in Turkey, do take the time to pay a visit to  Dim River and Koprucay Canyon.
