The region of Antalya is so full of history and has no shortage of ancient sites dotted along the coastline. Because of these ancient sites, there are so many intriguing relics that the Antalya Museum is a great place to visit many different regions under one roof. Rich in artefacts and historical findings the Antalya Museum is one of the largest in Turkey and far from boring. It is also ranked third among Turkey’s archaeological and historical collections while being one of the best in the world for Roman artefacts. There are thirteen different exhibition halls, filled with 5000 works of art in the exhibition and about 30,000 different artefacts that are in storage. There is also an open-air gallery and a lovely garden behind the museum. The artefacts here are from the Stone, Bronze and Byzantium ages, displaying statues of Olympian gods, gold artefacts and ancient coins. Antalya Museum is open every day, except Mondays, if history is your thing, then this is one place not to miss.
